Method

How the signing works

Your PDF is opened in the browser and each page is drawn on screen. The fields you place are recorded as positions on the page, then written into the original PDF when you download it, so the rest of the document, its text and its layout, stays exactly as it was.

A typed signature is rendered in a script face and embedded as an image, the same as a drawn one. The optional signing summary page records the signer, the time and the original file’s SHA-256 fingerprint.

This is a simple electronic signature: there is no identity verification or audit trail beyond that summary page.

From one site to every site

Signing PDFs is a workaround. Approvals belong in the workflow.

In Bollard, a purchase order is approved inside the system by the right person for its amount and site, and the receipt is signed for on a phone at the door. Every sign-off is recorded with who, when and what changed, with no PDFs to print, sign and chase.

  • Approvals routed by amount, site and role
  • Receiving signed on a phone at delivery
  • A full audit trail on every order
  • No paper to file or lose

Questions

Frequently asked

Is my document uploaded?+

No. The PDF is opened, shown and signed entirely in your browser, and the signed copy is saved straight to your device. Nothing is sent to a server, which matters for contracts and price lists you’d rather not hand to a third party.

Is an electronic signature legally binding?+

In many places, yes, for most business documents: laws such as the US ESIGN Act and the EU’s eIDAS regulation recognise electronic signatures. This tool applies a simple electronic signature with no identity check. Some documents, such as deeds, wills or anything that must be witnessed or notarised, need more. This isn’t legal advice; if in doubt, ask your counsel.

What is the signing summary page?+

An optional last page recording who signed, when, whether the signature was drawn or typed, which pages have fields, and the SHA-256 fingerprint of the original file. Anyone holding the original can check the fingerprint to confirm which document was signed.

Can I sign in more than one place, or on several pages?+

Yes. Place as many signature, date, name and text fields as you need, on any page. Drag a field to move it and use its corner to resize it.

Can someone else sign the same document?+

Download your signed copy and send it to them; they can open it here and add their own signature. There is no multi-party workflow or tracking.

Are password-protected PDFs supported?+

No. Remove the password protection first (most PDF readers can save an unprotected copy), then sign that copy.
